IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Racer
The year 2012 was all about the Pilot collection for IWC, but 2013 is the year of the Ingenieur. There is a whole new lineup of models being added to the range and a partnership with Mercedes AMG Petronas features prominently as well. Along these lines, we've got your first look at both the Ingenieur Chronograph Racer and Ingenieur Silberpfeil, watches with close ties to the world of Formula One Racing.
As you might have guessed from the name, the Ingenieur collection is where IWC really shows off its passion for hardcore engineering. A partnership with Formula One only makes sense here. And the collection not only takes aesthetic inspiration from the world of Formula One, but also utilizes technical materials to make the watches as robust, wearable, and functional as possible.
First there is the Ingenieur Chronograph Racer, which you can see here. It comes in two configurations, one with a white dial, blue hands, and red accents, and the other with a dark grey dial, black subdials, silver hands, and those same red accents. Both have that classic IWC look to them that is strong without being loud.
And then there is the special edition Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil, dedicated to the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow (Silberpfeil in German). The amazing Silver Arrow W25 dominated the racing scene during its mid-centurty heyday and we were even lucky enough to see more than a few of them in action at this year's Goodwood Revival. The dark grey circular-grain dial invokes the dashboard dials of these historic cars, and a Silver Arrow is engraved on the case back as well. It's a subtle way to pay tribute to an amazing piece of racing history.

IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Racer on Rubber/Textile Strap
The Ingenieur Chronograph racer will be available on either a steel bracelet with IWC's fine-adjustment clasp or a combination rubber/textile strap. These straps are new for IWC and combine the look of textile (or leather for some models) with the durability of rubber. Very cool idea.
